Job Summary

Are you curious about how businesses source materials and negotiate with suppliers? As a Procurement Intern, you’ll support purchasing operations, assist with vendor research, and help maintain cost-effective sourcing strategies. This role is perfect for students who want to learn the essentials of procurement, negotiation, and vendor management while gaining real-world business exposure.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support the procurement team in sourcing suppliers and collecting quotations.
  • Assist in preparing and processing purchase orders and requisitions.
  • Help maintain and update supplier databases and procurement records.
  • Track order status, deliveries, and ensure timely follow-up with vendors.
  • Assist in cost analysis and vendor performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate with finance and operations teams for payment processing and order reconciliation.
  • Research market trends, pricing, and alternative suppliers to optimize procurement decisions.

Required Skills

  • Technical/Business Skills:
    • Basic understanding of procurement and supply chain concepts.
    • Proficiency in MS Excel/Google Sheets for tracking and reporting.
    • Familiarity with ERP or procurement software (preferred).
    • Ability to prepare and review basic purchase documentation.
  • Soft Skills:
    • Good negotiation and communication skills.
    • Detail-oriented and organized.
    • Ability to multitask and manage timelines.
    • Analytical thinking with a problem-solving mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Coursework or projects in supply chain management, procurement, or business administration.
  • Knowledge of sourcing strategies, RFP/RFQ processes, or vendor evaluation.
  • Prior internship/volunteer experience in procurement or purchasing (added advantage).
  • Awareness of sustainable or ethical sourcing practices.
