Job Summary
Are you curious about how businesses source materials and negotiate with suppliers? As a Procurement Intern, you’ll support purchasing operations, assist with vendor research, and help maintain cost-effective sourcing strategies. This role is perfect for students who want to learn the essentials of procurement, negotiation, and vendor management while gaining real-world business exposure.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the procurement team in sourcing suppliers and collecting quotations.
- Assist in preparing and processing purchase orders and requisitions.
- Help maintain and update supplier databases and procurement records.
- Track order status, deliveries, and ensure timely follow-up with vendors.
- Assist in cost analysis and vendor performance evaluations.
- Collaborate with finance and operations teams for payment processing and order reconciliation.
- Research market trends, pricing, and alternative suppliers to optimize procurement decisions.
Required Skills
- Technical/Business Skills:
- Basic understanding of procurement and supply chain concepts.
- Proficiency in MS Excel/Google Sheets for tracking and reporting.
- Familiarity with ERP or procurement software (preferred).
- Ability to prepare and review basic purchase documentation.
- Soft Skills:
- Good negotiation and communication skills.
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Ability to multitask and manage timelines.
- Analytical thinking with a problem-solving mindset.
Preferred Qualifications
- Coursework or projects in supply chain management, procurement, or business administration.
- Knowledge of sourcing strategies, RFP/RFQ processes, or vendor evaluation.
- Prior internship/volunteer experience in procurement or purchasing (added advantage).
- Awareness of sustainable or ethical sourcing practices.
